Fee and Commission Schedule
We’re building a safe and trusted vehicle sharing community. The fees outlined below are meant to encourage the growth and success of a happy community and discourage any irresponsible behavior. When small issues do arise, it’s always best if Members can work them out between themselves. However, if you see anything that looks particularly wrong, please contact us.
Standard Fees cover the running costs of Cosmic , including Renter insurance, and running our site, hardware, and applications. These fees are in addition to the hourly, daily, and/or weekly rate of the Vehicle which is set by the VehicleOwner. Cosmic charges a 10% commission from all trips booked, including trip extensions. Each trip extension is processed as a new trip and is billed separately from the initial booking.
Renters have no monthly fees unless picked by them but are subject to the following fees when renting on Cosmic:
A nominal Booking Fee will be charged for every Trip. This Booking Fee is charged to the Renter for the reservation of a Cosmic vehicle and is required for each trip. Discount codes and promotions cannot be applied to the Booking Fee as they can sometimes include the cost of insurance.
3% of Trip price
Owners are subject to the following fees while sharing their vehicle on Cosmic :
Cosmic Rover: $650 USD including free shipping + taxes
A one time fee of purchasing a Cosmic Rover will be charged to the owner of the Rover
Cosmic Super Lock: $90 USD including free shipping + taxes
A one time fee of purchasing a Cosmic Super Lock will be charged to the owner of the Super Lock.
Cosmic Super Lock PRO: $190 USD including free shipping + taxes
A one time fee of purchasing a Cosmic Super Lock PRO will be charged to the owner of the Super Lock PRO.
Cosmic Locator: $20 USD including free shipping + taxes + $1 per month per Locator
A monthly fee of $13 per GSM connected device will be charged in addition to data fees.
Credit Card Processing Fees: 3.5%
Owners will automatically have the cost of credit card processing taken out of the payments from renters owed to them.
These accompanying fees are charges related to additional services provided by Cosmic , and are designed to incentivize courteous and responsible vehicle-sharing among Members.
Renter Cancellation Fee
When a Renter cancels a Trip, a Renter Cancellation Fee may be charged at Cosmic’s sole discretion. This fee is charged to compensate for the time the vehicle was booked and unavailable for other potential renters.
After a Trip has started, it is not refundable and may not be canceled.
Cancellation within 1 hour after booking the Trip but before the Trip start time: no fee.
More than 1 hour after booking the Trip, the following renter cancellation fees apply:
1. Cancellation prior to 24 hours before the Trip starts: no fee.
2. Cancellation less than 24 hours before the trip starts: 50% of rental price.
Owner Cancellation Fee
When an Owner cancels a booked Cosmic Trip, an Owner Cancellation Fee may be charged at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion. This fee is charged to cover the costs of rebooking the affected renter to another vehicle.
After a Trip has started, it may not be canceled.
If the Trip is canceled more than 24 hours before the Trip starts: no fee.
Less than 24 hours before the Trip starts, the following owner cancellation fees apply:
1. If canceled less than 24 hours before the Trip starts: $5.00.
2. If canceled less than 1 hour before the Trip starts: $10.00.
3. Canceled with no advance notice (No-Show): $25.00.
When a Renter returns a vehicle excessively dirty, a Cleaning Fee of $20 USD will be charged at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion.
In the event of any loss or damage to the vehicle, or any personal property or bodily injury claim, that occurs during the Trip period due to any cause regardless of fault, including, but not limited to, collision, theft, vandalism, seizure, fire, flood, hail or other acts of nature or God, the Renter is held responsible, and is required to pay Cosmic a Damage Fee. In the event a renter has violated Terms of Service, the fee does not apply, and the renter may be held responsible for the full amount of the claim.
Standard Damage Fee: $500USD
Specialty Damage Fee: $1,000USD
Improper Return Fee: $25 USD
If a Member returns a vehicle improperly resulting in inconvenience for the next renter, an Improper Return Fee may be charged at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion. Improper Return Fees may be applied if the vehicle is returned at the incorrect parking space within a garage or lot, lights are left on resulting in a dead battery, or any other instance where a Member returns a vehicle negligently and/or improperly.
Service Fee: $25USD – $500USD
When Cosmic intervenes in any event due to violations of our Terms of Service or other actions taken by a Member, Service Fees may be charged at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion to cover administration and other costs incurred to resolve the issue.
Pass-Through Charges cover costs that Cosmic or a Member incurs as a result of actions taken by another Member. Additional fees may also be charged to cover administration and processing at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion.
Renter agrees to be solely liable for parking tickets, traffic citations, and other infractions and violations that occur during and subsequent to the Trip, and all fees resulting from such violations per Cosmic policy. It is the sole responsibility of the Renter to pay these fees in a timely manner and to comply with all legal obligations that arise from such violations. An additional Citation Fee may also be charged at Cosmic’s sole discretion.

Regular Maintenance Charge
The Owner is responsible for all regularly scheduled maintenance on the vehicle in line with Cosmic policy. In certain cases, Cosmic and/or a Renter may cover required maintenance up front, at Cosmic ‘s sole discretion. When Cosmic or a Renter shoulders costs for a vehicle’s regularly scheduled maintenance, the Owner is responsible to pay these costs and will be charged a Regular Maintenance Charge to cover the parts, servicing, and other associated costs incurred.

Fines are punitive charges associated with unacceptable Member behavior.
Late Return Fine
If a Renter returns a vehicle late resulting in inconvenience to another Member, the Renter will be charged the hourly rate of that vehicle plus a Late Return Fine for each hour the vehicle is late. Late Return Fines will be charged at Cosmic’s sole discretion.

Unauthorized Driver Fine
If a Renter allows an unauthorized rider to operate a Cosmic vehicle during any Trip period, the Renter will be charged an Unauthorized rider Fine at Cosmic’s sole discretion. Payment of the Unauthorized Driver Fine does not imply Cosmic membership or insurance coverage for the unauthorized rider.
Owner Reimbursements are added to the Owner’s monthly earnings payout to reimburse for Renter-incurred expenses which the owner shoulders to resolve the issue. Additional earnings adjustments may also be added to the Owner’s monthly payout to compensate for the time and effort of resolving Renter-incurred expenses.
The Owner is responsible to settle Renter-incurred traffic tickets, citations, and violations directly to prevent additional penalties due to late payment. The Owner may then submit a copy of the citation and payment receipt to Cosmic to request a Citation Reimbursement for the expense.
Citation Reimbursement requests must be submitted to Cosmic within 90 days of the violation issue date. Any and all late or delinquent penalties are the responsibility of the Vehicle Owner.
Cost of settling citation

If a Renter returns a vehicle excessively dirty, the Owner may have the vehicle cleaned and submit a payment receipt to Cosmic to request a Cleaning Reimbursement.
The Owner must submit thorough documentation of the incident to Cosmic, including photos and payment receipts, to request a Cleaning Reimbursement.
Up to $45.00
(+ $15.00 earnings adjustment)
Improper Return Reimbursement
If a Renter returns a Vehicle improperly, such as blocking a driveway, failing to curb the wheels, losing a garage/parking card, or leaving lights on resulting in a dead battery, the Owner may intervene to prevent a tow, citation, and/or inconvenience to the next Renter. The Owner must submit thorough documentation of the incident to Cosmic, including photos and payment receipts where applicable, to request an Improper Return Reimbursement.
Late Return Reimbursement
If a Renter returns a Vehicle late resulting in inconvenience to another Member, Cosmic may remit compensation to the owner for each hour the Renter is late returning the car. Late Return Reimbursements are in addition to the hourly rate of the Vehicle less Cosmic commission.

Renter Cancellation Reimbursement
If a Renter cancels a trip over 1 hour after booking the Trip and less than 24 hours before the Trip start time, the Owner may request a Renter Cancellation Reimbursement for the time the Vehicle was booked and unavailable for other potential renters.
50% of Owner revenue for canceled Trip
Deposits are charges which are eventually refunded if certain conditions are met.
As a security measure, Cosmic may add a temporary authorization of up to $50, usually for first-time renters only. This authorization is immediately voided. Depending on your bank, these funds may take a few days to become available.
Good Faith Deposit: $150
The Good Faith Deposit is a charge charged to a Member after one or more community violations at Cosmic’s sole discretion. The Good Faith Deposit will be refunded to the Member if the Member follows all of Cosmic ‘s Terms of Service and community policies for an amount of time to be determined by Cosmic .
